The learning intentions from Week 1 to Week 5 are outlined as follows: 1. pattern and algebra: use algebra to express relationships   2. simplify expressions: adding and subtracting in algebra   3. index notation and removing grouping symbols 4. multiplying and dividing in algebra Peter always participates sessions in a timely manner. Peter has demonstrated good progress this term. He was in class discussions and activities and had good relationship with his peer. He could understand and answer questions when given explicit instructions, but might struggle to complete work individually. Same outcome reflected on his homework and term 3 test. In the test, Peter showed good understanding in finding patterns, calculating using mathematics laws and financial maths, however, he had difficulties completing questions relating to numbers and place values, integer calculating, decimals, fractions and percentages. Peter has shown great progress over the past few weeks. He has become more willing to face challenging questions. He also participated in majority of the class discussions and activities. Peter improved during the semester 2 exam. He did quite well on questions relating to fractions. He is encouraged to improve his knowledge and understanding of collecting and interpreting data and graphing. But Peter did quite well on his exam and should be proud of himself.

Unfortunately, Peter did not do too well in his examination. Peter got 9 marks out of 44 marks. That’s 20%. Peter needs to improve his studies habits and ensure he isn’t just simply rewriting the questions on the exam.

Peter is a very able student and – when on task – his engagement and contributions are excellent. However, he has the ability to perform much better. To facilitate such an improvement, Peter needs to commit himself during class time to the challenges at hand by being more able to work without constant supervision. He must also dedicate more time towards homework and revision.
